A thrilling victory for Honor A.P. in Saturday’s running of the Santa Anita Derby has vaulted the horse into 2nd place on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard. It was a 2 ¾-length win over Authentic, another strong contender for this year’s Derby.
“Everybody at the barn is really joyful,” said trainer John Shirreffs. “He got 100 points for the win, so it puts us in a good position.”
Now that another signature stop on the Run for the Roses is in the books, here’s what the top of the leaderboard looks like.
1- Tiz the Law, 122 points
2- Honor A.P., 120 points
3- Wells Bayou, 104 points
4- Authentic, 100 points
5- King Guillermo, 90 points
