Another light week of horse racing action is on tap in light of the Covid-19 crisis, but there’s still some intrigue to be found. Two carryover jackpots are steadily growing at a pair of tracks which are still racing without spectators.
Fonner Park Pick 5 Jackpot
As of this writing, the Pick 5 carryover at the Grand Island, NE track is up to $355,847. Fonner has been one of the few early week options for horse racing in the current environment.
The track has been seeing even more betting action as a result, and we can safely expect that to continue. Three cards are scheduled for this week.
Monday, April 6
9-Race card beginning at 4 PM ET
Pick 5 starts with Race 5 at 5:48 PM.
Race 5 – $4,400 Claiming, 6 Furlongs, Dirt, 9 Starters
Race 6 – $3,700 Claiming, 6 Furlongs, Dirt, 9 Starters
Race 7 – $3,700 Claiming, 6 Furlongs, Dirt, 10 Starters
Race 8 – $7,000 Allowance, 6 Furlongs, Dirt, 10 Starters
Race 9 – $6,100 Claiming, 6 Furlongs, Dirt, 10 Starters
It’s a $0.50 minimum bet for the Pick 5, which covers one entry in each race. You can pick more than one starter for each race, but the ticket cost will naturally rise as additional selections are added.
For example, two selections for each race would equal a ticket cost of $16, and so on. If there’s no unique winner of the pool, then a portion will be paid out to correct entries while the remainder carries over to the next card.
Since Fonner has been seeing a good amount of action lately, this is a pool that has potential to rise substantially before it’s hit. Fonner will be up and running on Tuesday and Wednesday as well.
