Major Injury Shakes Up Derby Future Odds

Written By Christopher Feery on June 1, 2020

Kentucky Derby favorite Nadal suffered a career-ending injury last week. The devastating announcement has shaken up what has already been a Triple Crown season unlike any other due to the current climate.

As you would expect, futures bettors have quickly reacted to the news. Here’s what the odds board looks like at Circa Sports, courtesy of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

  • Tiz the Law +475
  • Charlatan +555
  • Authentic 7-1
  • Maxfield 7-1
  • Honor A.P. 10-1
  • King Guillermo 12-1
  • Sole Volante 18-1
  • Cezanne 25-1
  • Dr. Post 35-1
  • Basin 40-1

We still have a ways to go before this year’s running of the Derby, and the results of the upcoming Belmont Stakes will further shake things up. Clear favorites are there for the time being, but we have to consider the overall field of contenders to be a work in progress.
